New England Wedding – Kelly Cronin Photography

This beachy New England wedding sent to us by Kelly Cronin Photography is a preppy wedding you will just adore. From the color palette to the Lily Pulitzer bridesmaids dresses to the fun-loving bride, groom, and their bridal party, this is without a doubt a truly happy affair.
The proposal: We got engaged October 4th 2011. Anthony and my best friend Kristin (the same best friend from Madison NJ) planned my proposal to go down in New York City. He took me on a surprise trip there “to spend the weekend with Kristin” but while I was on the train, Kristin called to tell me she “couldn’t hang out anymore because she had to work” – I was PISSED. I’m coming all the way from Boston to NYC and she can’t see me even for one night?! – SO we get to the Ace Hotel and when I walk into the room there were flowers, champagne, chocolates from my favorite cafe in Brooklyn, and a note that said “Will you spend the rest of your life with me?” After I cried and said yes – my first response was “I still can’t believe Kristin can’t hang out this weekend! I’m so mad at her!” but moments later there was a knock on the door and it was her. They planned the perfect proposal!! I got to celebrate with my two favorite people.

Choosing the Venue: Since I was a little girl, I always knew i’d be married on Cape Cod. My family spent their summers in Chatham, MA – which prompted my love for sun, sand and the ocean. After the proposal, Anthony and I immediately drove to the Cape to check out venues and fell in love with the Ocean Room at the Wychmere Beach Club – the open air feel, beautiful tall ceilings, white walls, tables and chairs, exactly the bright and cheery feel that we wanted for our dream wedding.

The Fashion: I am obsessed with Lilly Pulitzer, but my bridesmaids are NOT. Luckily I fell in love with a simple striped Lilly dress that did not have the typical Lilly look to it. Two of the bridesmaids wore lime green Lilly Pulitzer shoes, the other two wore white shoes that matched the green but were from an unknown brand. The bridesmaids got ready in robes from Etsy. We bought JCrew aqua socks for the groomsmen that matched the Bridesmaids dresses, and the guys wore aqua Vineyard Vines ties that also matched perfectly, they even had a touch of coral in them to tie in the flower arrangements!

My Dress: My dress was custom made Augusta Jones dress (purchased at Allegria Bridal) with an Irish lace top. Brought back memories of a family ireland trip! I’m irish but my husband is Italian so i wanted to have something Irish with me! I also had my grandmothers brooch & rosary beads wrapped around my bouquet.

The Color Palette: Aqua, citrus green, royal blue and white stripped Lilly Pulitzer dresses. Coral pink peonies with feathery chamomile, maiden fern, roses, white and green hydrangeas, Lilly’s of the valley, and white Lisianthus. The containers on the tables were white urns that looked like they had been dipped in sand. The menus (DIY made by my mother!) were embossed with a raised gold compass, on white card stock and mounted on coral card stock. And placed on a citrus green napkin. The party favors were almonds wrapped in coral tissue paper and cut to make them look like coral peonies with yellow stamens and tied with a citrus green ribbon for leaves. Food Inspiration:I’m Irish, so the only thing my family cared about was the open bar, whereas my husband is Italian and they only cared about the food!
