Sometimes we come across a wedding that leaves us speechless… that makes us stop in our tracks and say, WOW! This wedding at Oheka Castle photographed by Susan Stripling and design by Coordinated to Perfection is one of those weddings. From the show stopping Alexander McQueen shoes to the Swarovski crystals on the stunning Pninai Tornai dress, this is without a double, a most fashion forward luxurious affair. 
From Simone Vega of Coordinated to Perfection: Shella Augustin, a former corporate attorney who recently left big law to join the family business, and Jamil Ajami, a real estate investor got married on July 26, 2014.  The couple met in 2006 at a lounge in Washington D.C.   Shella recalls seeing Jamil walk up the stairs, and time suddenly stopping when she saw him. Having just got out of a long relationship she simply went on with her night. Jamil later approached her mentioning that he liked her red pants.  The two danced  to a couple reggae songs before leaving with a group of Jamil’s friends to The Diner, a popular late night breakfast spot.  Two of Jamil’s friends got into an intense regiment which left one girl crying, and brought Shella to the rescue. Shella consoled the girl and offered to take her home. This is when Jamil knew there was something special about the girl he just met.

The two continued to hang out, until Shella revealed that she was leaving the country to go live in Rome, Italy for a few months before law school. Shella thought the two had a good time together and was basically ready to say, “Ciao buddy. It’s been fun” but Jamil had other plans. He asked her to call him as soon as she arrived in Rome. Shella obliged, and the two kept in contact on a weekly basis. Shella returned from Rome and the rest is history. After eight years together, Jamil proposed to Shella in St. Lucia during a private dinner on the beach.

The couple got married at Oheka Castle in Huntington, NY. The black and gold themed wedding had 305 guests. The couples biggest challenge in planning the wedding was managing their guest list which reached 390 guests at one point.

The most memorable aspects of the wedding included surprise fireworks, a special performance by Haitian singer Alan Cave, a nod to the bride’s Haitian ancestry, and the bridal party entrance which was choreographed by the bride and included  bridesmaids walking out in masquerade masks to Beyoncé’s famed song” Flawless”, while the groomsmen sat and watched with cigars in hand.
