St. Louis Engagement
by Bliss Eleven
There’s nothing more amazing than a surprise proposal. Especially one that’s on a mountain top 9,000 feet above sea level. Jason surprised Abbey with a trip to Half Dome in Fresno, CA but that was only the begining of their adventure. One that ended with Abbey saying that wonderful three letter word, YES!
Abbey & Jason
Jason and I met after a Saint Louis Cardinals game at Ball Park Village. He was with his buddies that night, and I was out with some of my close friends. Jason came up to me that night and introduced himself and his friends. Even though our first encounter was brief, it was an instant connection with Jason. The next day after we met he asked me out.
The proposal is a fun story to tell! Jason gave me a set of dates in July I needed to take off work for our anniversary trip (July 9-13). He would not say where we were going or what we would be doing on the trip. Jason even packed my luggage for me! The day we left I saw that the final destination was in Fresno, CA. It was not until we went to the airport that I realized where he was taken me. There were murals all over the airport walls of Yosemite National Park, and that is where he took me. I had no idea of any events planned during the trip. Each day was a surprise.
We arrived in the evening on July 9th. Jason made sure we were asleep early that night because he told me we were going on an 18-mile hike to half dome. Half Dome is an all-day trek up to almost 9000 ft altitude. The hike was pretty treacherous at times, the last 1/2 mile to the top of the mountain we had to use cable wires to pull ourselves to the top. When we arrived at the top, Jason proposed! The rest of the trip was filled with horseback riding through the mountains, rafting, rock climbing, romantic dinners, and lots of wine and champagne from the hotel and friends sending it to us for the congratulations! It was the trip of a lifetime with my best friend. I could not be more excited to marry him!
