Summertime engagement sessions are the best! There’s nothing like a picnic in the park under beautiful blue skies to celebrate the love and commitment between two people. Although we met Krista and Mike for the first time at this engagement session, we immediately felt a connection with them. Later on we discovered that they are also animal lovers like us! We had decided to do a picnic themed engagement shoot at Burnaby Lake Nature Park, where there are plenty of animals. We had the pleasure of inviting stylist and set designer, Karen, from Vintage Meant for Rent to style and design the picnic for the couple. Krista’s mother bakes the best pastries, and she made lemon Butterfly cupcakes as well as raspberry chocolate cupcakes for us. We could not stop eating them after the session; they were way too delicious!

At the end of the shoot, we had a chance to ask the couple about their love story, and we must share it with you: Michael and Krista spent many years working together, alongside animals. However, it wasn’t until a few years later that they began spending time together outside of work. They discovered that their shared love of animals was not the only thing they had in common. On November 30th, 2014, after spending the day together in the snow, Michael played a song for Krista, which he had played for the first time earlier that day. They listened to the song, “Forever”, by Ben Harper, a few times, and while the song was in the interlude, Mike asked Krista if she would be his forever. Krista replied, “of course I already am! Silly goose!” Unexpectedly, he opened her hand and gave her something.
