An Italian Love Affair by Sugar Cookies
Italy is one of my favorite places to visit in Europe, especially the Tuscan region. I love the rolling green hills, the endless fields of sunflower and, of course, the history. It is a magical land where the food is glorious, the sites spectacular and the people friendly.
When my husband and I renew our vows, we are headed to the land of romance and wine.Sofia and Edoardo met each other while attending secondary school it was love at first sight! This sounds like something from a romantic movie, but this is real romance set in a unique location, amidst the rolling green hills of Umbria in Italy: Gubbio, a medieval town and home to one of Italy’s most famous folklore manifestations “La corsa dei Ceri.”
Sofia and Edoardo grew up surrounded by passionate people in an almost surreal environment: magnificent medieval towers, narrow picturesque streets, mountain peaks and fertile plains on which lies the ruins of a Roman amphitheatre.
Their young hearts, inflamed with love for each other, were also burning with desire for another love, and that was their love of art and all things beautiful. Sadly, it was this ‘second love’ that separated them when they began University studies.
Time goes by, until one day; Sofia and Edoardo come face to face at a private party celebrating the recently restructured eighteenth century Villa Benveduti in Gubbio. Gladly, we can say that it was their ‘second love’ that brought them together again.
So here we are now, on the wedding day. Sofia and Edoardo, lovers of all things beautiful, decided to celebrate the most important day of their lives with a classical Italian wedding ceremony held in a little baroque-style chapel near the Villa where they met again after so many years. The wedding planners DREAM ON were called in to organise the event, which they carried out professionally, paying particular attention even to the most minute of details.
The 18th-century historical residence of unique beauty is a perfect example of the Baroque-style. The original frescos and stuccoes, along with the sober elegance of its architectonic structure and suggestive gardens make it the perfect location for a fairytale wedding.
Every detail and accessory embody the essence of Sofia & Edoardo’s story: the tint of pink powder, pale pink and gold are the recurrent colours, and they all recall the traditional Italian ceremony.
Delicate pastel powder pink, light pink and gold reflect the Baroque style in the wedding dress, which has a subtle hint of powder pink in the bodice. The invitation cards and save the date cards are gracefully printed in pastel colours while pink and gold are the colours chosen for the dessert table.
