Fairytale Wedding at Lyndhurst Mansion
Oh my gosh you guys! This Lyndhurst Mansion wedding photographed by Sarah Tew is a fairytale! In the words of the bride herself, “an unforgettable fantasy.” I couldn’t agree more! Feast your eyes on this beauty and enjoy! From the bride: Dan proposed to me in the Rodin Museum Gardens in Paris, France, amidst white rose bushes and lush green fields. When we returned to New York, our second favorite city of romance, we saw a number of wedding venues, but none compared to Lyndhurst Mansion. It was reminiscent of the Parisian garden where we got engaged. We loved the idea of utilizing various settings for each part of our wedding. The ceremony took place in the rose garden. The cocktail hour was on the veranda of the mansion overlooking the Hudson River. The reception was in the beautiful tented area near the carriage house.
We spent ten months planning the details of our Memorial Day Weekend wedding. During the ceremony, I wore a full tulle skirt over my modified A-line Monique Lhuillier gown complete with a cathedral length veil. I chose three different colors for the flowing chiffon bridesmaid dresses, blush, raspberry, and taupe, which tied into the overall color scheme of the décor. Garden roses, peonies, and spray roses spilled from silver-footed bowls to create timeless centerpieces, surrounded by silver mercury votives. The honor table was grand, adorned with an abundant display of ivory and blush toned flowers with green and raspberry accents, alongside tall silver candelabras with crawling passion vine.
To do something creative with the table numbers, I decided to use vintage clocks. Dan and I spent months searching for all around Manhattan for these clocks (I even found my beaded clutch in one of the antique markets we went to). I had a clock stamp made for the escort cards, and I drew in the hands to indicate table numbers for our guests. We framed the quote “Time stands still when I’m with you” as it captured the enduring romantic feeling of our wedding. The delicious cuisine was complimented by our signature drink; a spiked Arnold Palmer served in a mason jar. For dessert, we had the old-school dessert table filled with s’mores, mini-milkshakes, root beer floats, chocolate covered pretzels, ice cream sandwiches and more!” Our unbelievable band set the mood with continuous music and our guests lit up the dance floor the entire night. After the wedding, my friend said to me, “It was a dream, a complete fantasy,” and my friend was right… I lived an unforgettable fantasy, and now I get to spend every day and every night with the man of my dreams.
