Summer Beach Wedding by Kelly Cronin Photography
The ultimate summer color palette for any outdoor party is bright and a little bold. A palette that feels happy without looking like a circus. Like the color scheme in this wedding, a pretty shade of watermelon with garden green and white. Oh, let’s not ignore that little pop of purple. Oh yes! From the Bride: The theme: While the centerpiece of the reception was the gorgeous beach setting, the color inspiration was watermelon. We added garden green lattice runners to the tables to play off the watermelon and white hanging lanterns. The whole feeling was festive and celebratory achieving the goal of a casual elegant wedding.
The Dress: I must be the anti-bride because I wasn’t looking forward to the dress shopping part of the wedding planning. To complicate things, I had broken my leg skiing and had to try on these big heavy gowns on crutches! Luckily, I knew I wanted a nod to vintage with modern sparkle, so I chose an illusion neckline dress with a lace cap sleeve and added a sash. Just like Mike, when I tried it on I knew it was the one.
The Location: We both have always loved Cape Cod. I have been going there with my family since I was a little girl. We were having guests from far and wide so we really wanted our guests to make a weekend out of it to experience the restorative effects of a weekend getaway at our favorite place.
On our annual trip in August, we even secured our marriage license at the Eastham town hall where my Aunt works! She took our pictures as we signed.
The DIY was a family affair. My Maid of Honor sister-in-law helped with a huge photo collage that she produced at the print shop at FedEx store and printed all the invitation envelopes on her home printer. We also printed a lot the paper products and got a foam board photo booth sign from a free template got at a DIY site. The flower girl and ring bearer helped me assemble the custom invitations from Michael’s craft supply store. The groom’s mom added ribbon to the custom olive oil wedding favors we ordered. For the wedding ceremony programs, the menus and the signature drink signs, we used One Heart Weddings website for downloadable clipart and templates and designed them in our style. We added watermelon colored sashes to the simple white flower girl dresses. Additional details were added from Etsy shops such as the Oui Chef, just married and bride and groom signs. I also personalized cocktail napkins on zazzle.com and did the save the dates on that site. The photobooth was a huge hit with guests, who made our guestbook with their photos.
