Tarrytown House Wedding by Zen Photography
Rain or shine your wedding day will be one of the most amazing days of your life. It’s the beginning of your life together. This was Tara’s attitude. Despite the rain and extreme humidity, Tara smiles because Christina of Zen Photography captured some awesome images of her very special that she will cherish forever.
Tell us about your planning process: Pat and I had so much fun planning our wedding. We both gravitate towards classic and traditional themes, but also wanted to put our personal touches on things. Our venue had the timeless feel we were going for. We had a large wedding and loved how much space our guests would have. We researched a lot of photographers. As soon as we saw Christina’s portfolio we knew we wanted to work with her. She seemed to showcase each couples personalities and love through their pictures. We are so lucky to relive our day through her amazing work. In the pictures I can feel the amount of joy there was between us on that day.
We started with one central color, navy blue. We loved that color for the summer. Grey tuxes complemented it and we wanted a lot of ivories and greens in our flowers to complete the scheme.
My parents married in the same church 35 years ago. I remember being a little girl, looking at their pictures and knowing that’s where I wanted mine to be. From the first time Pat saw the church he fell in love with it too.
Music is such an integral part of Pat’s childhood and life. We made sure to have live music throughout the night. All we wanted to do was dance the night away with each other and the people we love most.
Do you have any advice for brides-to-be planning their weddings? I would love to pass on the best advice someone gave us. They said find 10 minutes somewhere in the night where you sneak away and have a toast together. Pat and I did that right in the beginning of the cocktail hour. That conversation and the pure excitement we shared at that moment is something I will treasure forever.
I also would say to brides to not worry about the weather. I know that sounds crazy, but on that day it doesn’t matter. It rained and was humid on our wedding day, and at that moment I didn’t care. Having the limo driver escort each one of us under an umbrella is a story I’ll have forever. It’s your wedding day; it’s perfect.
