This is such a quirky 1950’s themed wedding! Just love it! From the tea length dress to the Converse sneakers, to the polka dots everywhere, this wedding is the sweetest and cutest not to mention happiest and funest. Oh, and the wedding party? Well, ten little ones in the most adorable outfits! Perfect.
From the Bride: I used a variety of fresh yellow and red flowers to decorate. My bouquet was made of antique Broaches instead of fresh flowers; it was heavy but so beautiful! My sister spent months collecting the pins from friends, family, on the internet and even at estate sales. She did an excellent job and added a few special touches; Something old, new, borrowed and blue. All of the flowers fell into one of those four categories. My favorite old piece was a shiny rhinestone daisy that my grandmother wore in the 60’s. There are so many stories in the bouquet.
I was performing in a musical at the time that we got engaged and had mentioned backstage that it was nearly impossible to find a 1950’s cover band for my upcoming retro themed wedding. Three of the performers approached me later that evening and asked to audition for the gig. They had only three months to practice, and they were amazing! They are such talented musicians and singers, and they played everything from Johnny Cash to the Beatles.
My dress was Oleg Cassini. I wasn’t in love with it because it was a strapless top with a hi-low bottom. After alterations, it was a halter top, tea-length, and it was perfect! For the ceremony I wore heels by Allure Bridals but after dinner I changed into polka-dot converse sneakers.
