Classic+Romantic Morning Engagement
Love is certainly in the air today! Because, not only is it a Spring-like glorious day here in New York, but also because we have this sweet engagement session gracing our pages. A little taste of beautiful things to come. Congratulations to Nick & Halli, and thank you, Jessica, for sharing these lovebirds with us.
Halli & Nick
Nick and I met at church and became friends when we realized our cats were almost identical and that we were both “crazy cat people.” I was interested in him, but realized we were definitely “just friends” when he told me he had a date with another girl! That date didn’t go well, and he brought over Taco Bell the next night (the way to any girl’s heart) and told me he was interested in me.
For our first official date, we went “fruit batting” – which is exactly what it sounds like, where you hit fruit with a baseball bat. He told me our date was a surprise, so I was in a little black dress getting fruit juice all over me! It was a blast, though.
Nick bought a ring in September and was planning on taking me apple picking and proposing at the end of October. I had a good idea that was the plan but tried to keep my mouth shut so he’d think it was a surprise.
At the beginning of October, my friends and I went out of town on a retreat. It was the same weekend as a crazy flood & we ended up getting stuck in Manning on our way home. We couldn’t leave the hotel for 24 hours! Nick was going stir-crazy back in Florence and stressing out about whether or not I was going to make it home. When we could finally leave, I couldn’t WAIT to get home and put on my PJs! Nick wanted to go out on a date night. We compromised by me agreeing to shower and put on some normal human clothes (but with fuzzy slippers) and him cooking steaks at my house. He decided to invite his best friend over and then had my twin sister and my best friend come over too. Once they all showed up, he started pacing & acting weird. When I finally called him out about it, he got down on one knee, told me he couldn’t live without me, & asked me to marry him. When I finally realized he wasn’t joking, I nodded and said “uh huh” because I couldn’t even talk.
Now, there are millions of pictures that my friends took of him proposing to me, and you can see my fuzzy slippers in every single one! “
