New York City Engagement by Vanessa Joy Photography
As a New Yorker, I adore NYC engagement sessions. So it goes without saying that I’m thrilled to share this one by the Seaport sent to us by Vanessa Joy Photography. Danielle and Chris are a world travelling couple so there is no surprise that Chris chose to propose at the foot of the majestic Waireinga Falls also known as Bridal Veil Falls, a breathtaking location that will forever hold a special place in their hearts. How did you guys meet? We met at a mutual friend’s BBQ in Riverside Park, NYC. At the time, we were dating other people but we ended up on the same football team. I was team captain and picked the tallest person (Chris.) We won the game but still didn’t hit it off…until he friended me on Facebook the following day. Four months later and both newly single, we went on our first date.
How did he propose? While travelling in New Zealand, we stumbled upon Waireinga Falls- aka Bridal Veil Falls- a breathtaking plunge waterfall. We hiked down a bit, and at the middle deck that overlooked the falls, Chris set up his camera tripod and asked me to stand by the water. He pressed the camera button and ran to stand next to me but when I turned to look, he wasn’t there. “What are you doing?” I yelled, “The camera’s about to take the picture!” I looked over, and then down, where he was fumbling with something on the ground. It didn’t register what he was doing, and I urged him again.
Chris was on one knee with a box in his hand, and I was still slightly confused, “Wait…Are you just posing for the camera?” He just smiled. “Are you…what is happening?! Is this for real?!” Chris managed to get three words out, but I said YES, and we hugged, and tried to get a wi-fi signal so we could tell everyone.
What is your favorite memory together? Riding a moped together along a cliff in Phuket- one of the most exhilarating experiences ever!
